250K Books to Donate in NYC
New York Public Library, New York, NY May 25, 2022Through a generous gift from the NY Public Library, Our Kids Read will donate between 100K and 250K books, from July 2022 through September 2023, to communities in Harlem, the Bronx and Staten Island. Books will largely be pulled from the NY Public Library “2021 Best Books for Kids” list which all feature a diverse cast of characters. Special thanks to the NY Public Library for involving us as one of their community partners.
Seattle Children’s Regional Playrooms – Everett, Bellevue, & Federal Way, WA
May 24, 2022Our Kids Read has partnered with the Seattle Children’s to bring diverse books to the specialty regional clinics playrooms’ libraries. After an initial donation to Seattle Children’s in February 2022, SCH and Our Kids Read decided to partner to fundraise for additional books in the Children’s libraries.

Outdoor Book Festival, Belle Meade Park, Richmond, VA April 30, 2022Honored to have been invited to read to children at the Belle Meade Park in Richmond, VA as part of the Richmond Public Library, Broad Rock Branch Dia de los Ninos Outdoor Storytelling Celebration. Washington Rose Elementary Book Donation and Storytelling
Washington Rose Elementary School, Long Island, NY December 3, 2021Thanks for the warm welcome we received from Washington Rose Elementary School! The students created an amazing poster welcoming Our Kids Read and were the best behaved of any school we’ve visited to date. Had a blast reading to the 2nd and 3rd grade class. Special thanks to Myrleen Springer, our very first Our Kids Read supporter and volunteer since 2019 and her superstar sister and teacher Tayana Thadal.
