Glenmount Elementary School Back-to-School Night Free Book Festival

LOCATION: Baltimore, MD DATE: Thursday Evening, September 10, 2026 DESCRIPTION:

Our Kids Read is excited to partner with Glenmount Elementary School and the Travis Manion Foundation for a community Back-to-School Book Distribution Event in Baltimore. Volunteers will help organize and distribute books to local children and families while celebrating the start of a new school year. Together, we'll help ensure students have access to high-quality books and the resources they need to build a lifelong love of reading. Additional event details will be shared with registered volunteers as the event approaches.

Microsoft Giving Month Event: Literacy Festival for Forest Edge 4th - 6th Graders!

LOCATION: Reston, VA DATE: Friday, October 16, 2026 DESCRIPTION:

Our Kids Read is honored to partner with Microsoft during Microsoft's October Giving Month. OKR and Microsoft have selected to support Forest Edge Elementary School in Reston, VA this year. We will bring over 500 books, storytellers and invitations to join the OKR evening Reading Buddies program for the Forest Edge 4th-6th grade classes.

Princeton University 2027 Reunions Service Event

LOCATION: Princeton University, Princeton, NJ DATE: Thursday, May 20, 2027 DESCRIPTION:

This year's OKR x Princeton University Reunions Service Event will bring 50 5th grade students from the Thomas Jefferson Intermedia School in Trenton to Princeton's campus for a LITERACY DAY! We will bus the students to campus then treat them to a campus tour, a special event at Firestone library, a storytelling event and a literacy activity with alumni Tigers. Before the students go home they will get to pick ten (10) free books to take home with them.
